Her Story
From an early age, Jessica’s (also known as The Refined Chef Carmel) passion for culinary arts was sparked by the captivating allure of Food Network, where shows like Top Chef, Iron Chef America, & Chopped fueled her fascination with the artistry of cooking. Growing up in a household where both parents were skilled cooks, Jessica developed a discerning palate and a deep appreciation for fine cuisine.
Her journey began humbly in fast food at the age of 17. But a few months into fast food, she became repelled by it. Her desire for more refined culinary experiences led her to seek opportunities in fine dining. Working her way up to become a head chef in esteemed establishments, Jessica’s love for the craft was undeniable. Yet, after years in the demanding environment of professional kitchens, she became burnt out & she sought a change—so she thought.
Although Jessica was known as ‘the friend that cooks,’ Jessica began running from the culinary field. She wanted to do work where, and I quote “I can look pretty, smell good while I work, make a difference, & make a whole lot of money.” She ventured down the school route but the idea of paying an institution thousands and thousands of dollars to learn something she had no idea how to do just to end up in a ton of debt never made any sense to her. Investing into her God-given gifts & talents and perfecting them made more sense— A path where she could express her culinary creativity without the heat, stress, limitations, and lack of fashionable style.
Driven by her passion and a quest for independence, Jessica ventured into social media in 2022, sharing her unique recipes and culinary creations on YouTube originally as ‘Carmel’s Wine & Cheese.’ However, she yearned for more than just virtual appreciation—she wanted people to experience the flavors she meticulously crafted. This led her to the realization that becoming a private chef perfectly aligned with her aspirations: creating exquisite dishes, while looking fly & fashionable, enjoying the freedom of being her own boss, and most importantly, sharing her God-given gift to the world.
Thus, The Refined Chef Carmel was born—the peak of Jessica’s culinary expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
The History Behind 'The Refined Chef Carmel'
Some of you may be wondering why I go by 'The Refined Chef Carmel' instead of "Chef Jessica." Carmel is the first of my two middle names and the meaning holds great significance.

Throughout scripture, you will notice that once someone receives a blessing from God, they often will have a name change. Abram's name was changed to 'Abraham' once he was promised to become a father of many nations and told that his name would be made great. Sarai's name was changed to Sarah once she was told that she would bear a child in older age. Jacob's name was also changed to Israel after he wrestled with the angel. Even when a child was born, their name is first introduced and then what the child would do is stated.

The reason this is so important is because when you study the word name you will come to find that the Hebrew word for name and character is the same word which is ‘SHEM’ & it means: name, reputation, character. So essentially the name is an indicator of who you are, how you will be, and what you will do.

Carmel means "fruitful.' Fruitful by definition means: producing much fruit; fertile. Producing good or helpful results; productive. Conducive to an abundant yield. Abundantly productive. Beneficial; profitable. Producing a rich & abundant growth.

This let's me know that whatever I do in THIS name 'Carmel' will produce much fruit. It will be fertile. It will produce good and helpful results. It will be productive. It will have an abundant yield. It will be abundantly productive. It will be beneficial and it will be very profitable.
